3DS inside look and hands on review

3DS Breakdown:

Nintendo has always made excellent products. The 3DS is not any different. Nintendo has once again mastered another handheld console and mastered it very well.

The layout: For DS owners we are all use to the DS dashboard right??? Well Nintendo still has the classic dashboard layout with just new features. I am going to talk about the new 3DS features that come with the 3DS.

The Camera: The 3DS has cameras of course. The nice thing about the 3DS camera is it offers 3 cameras. It has one camera facing you and 2 facing the back of the unit. You can actually snap photos and turn them into 3D based on the settings of your camera. You can save images to your SD card and transfer them to your PC or to your Wii Console. As far as quality of the camera, it is good. The camera is not mind breaking and jaw breaking but it serves its purpose.

Nintendo 3DS Sound: this is a really cool feature. You are able to record sounds and mix them and edit them. This is something fun and interesting to do. Once again you are able to save your sounds and transfer them accordingly to other devices.

Mii Maker: That’s correct a Mii maker! This is actually a cool feature. With the 3DS camera you can take a picture of yourself and allow it to shape your face into a Mii. You will use your Mii for many things throughout the course of your 3DS life. Mii maker is as fully customizable as the Wii version and then some! Nintendo will be releasing add-ons for your Mii.

Street Pass Mii Plaza: This is a section of your 3DS where you can turn the feature on and anybody with a 3DS on will bounce off your signal. This is a cool feature because it allows you to make friends, check other peoples game that they play and hook up to do multiplayer gaming. The 3DS has a friends list which allows quick launch for multiplayer if you see a buddy playing a game that you have also.

3DS AR Card: This is a feature that Nintendo has packaged 6 cards that you may take pictures of. This allows gamers to interact more with the games that they are playing.

Face Raiders: Is a 3DS feature that allows you to take pictures of yourself, friends and family and shoot them! LOL I know what you are all thinking right now, it is really fun. Using the 3DS tools and advanced hardware you actually have to turn the 3DS in the air and you turn your body to visually see the image to fire. The closer you walk forward the closer you get to the image and vice versa. This is one of those “FUN” features to use when you get board of playing all your 3DS software.

Activity Log: 3DS activity log actually measures the amount of games you play, the titles, and the most popular time of the day you play your 3DS. The Activity log even tells you the amount spend on each game.

DS Download Play: Yes you can still bounce off other players who have those SINGLE CARD 3DS Download games. This is a feature that Nintendo first introduced with the DS.

Game Notes: Game Notes allows gamers to take notes while playing a game or using another application. It actually pauses the game and moves it all to the upper screen so on your touch screen you can take notes on games or whatever application you are using in the top screen; including your web browser.

Web Browser: Non operational yet!!! AWWWWH!!!

Design:

The 3DS has a very nice smooth design, your top screen is your 3D screen. You can adjust your 3DS mode based on your eyes. For those who have bad eyes do not fear, you have a 2D mode which works with any and all games!!! The sound chip is very nice as I found myself turning the volume down because it was too loud. The lower screen is your touch screen. You have the same button layout as the DS but now with an analog, home button, start and select. The 3DS plays all your favorite DS GAMES!!! I noticed a little slower load times in loading DS software, but it was not much to account for anything in my opinion. The 3DS is light weight, smooth and has a slick design. Nintendo has once again made an awesome product. In my final remarks, the 3DS may hold a $249.99 price tag, but for what you get it is well worth it. Later this week I will have some 3DS software reviewed! Please comment I am interested to see what the rest of you gamers think of Nintendo’s new 3DS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED IT!

  1. Some remarks about the 3D features. The games look very good in 3D! The biggest problem I have encounter with 3D is if you have eye problems I recommend keeping the settings low or allowing your eyes to adjust. The first day i found myself with mild head aches until I allowed the unit to settle in with me.

  2. I found the 3DS to be absorbing, the 3D is great and makes you feel you’re in the game! Easy to control I will be spending many hours playing. I give it thumbs up at this point!

  3. I can certainly see the eye strain being an issue. I suffer massive migraines on a daily basis almost, however, my experience with the 3ds was surprising in the fact it caused no strain for me with the 3d all the way up. From messing with settings and distances, it appears to me to be all about how far you hold the system away from you. For myself, I found the closer you held the system, the better the 3d and the less strain there was.

  4. Overall, the 3ds is a great system and when I have more time and am not at work, I will add some comments expanding on the topics you mentioned above.
